A day out with FM2n, 300mm & tripod, to the KL Orchid Garden

One of the weekdays I was feeling too bored staying at home and working, so I decided to take a break. I have a few rolls of expired slow slide films Kodak Ektrachrome 64, in the fridge, and I was so longing to try it out but because of the slow speed ASA I could only use it to shoot unmoving subjects and steadily mount the camera on a tripod. And so I decided to grab a roll of the film, along with my almost under-utilised Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AIS lens and 105mm f/2.8 Micro AF lens; and my new Velbon Ultra Max i L tripod, off to the KL Orchid Garden for a shoot. I used the FM2n so I could have full control over the camera. Did some double exposure on some of the shots. The film was then cross processed with C-41. I am happy with the outcome.

Kluang Rail Coffee

Sometime last month I was with some churchmates in Klaung, Johor to help up at a conference and graduation dinner. On our last day a friend of Wini took us to this old authentic kopitiam (coffeshop) situated in the Kluang KTM train station called Kluang Rail Coffee. A place packed with crowd. We were there around 11 plus in the morning and we were waiting in the queue for a seat. Finally, we had our place but a small little table next to the window barely enough for four adults and two kids. Loved the kaya and butter bun toast!

These are some shots I managed to take at the coffeeshop. Camera, Nikon F70D; lens, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AIS on most of the shots, and Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AF on a few. Films, Agfa Vista 400 (mostly) and Samsung 400, both expired.

Chow Kit Street Photowalk

Sorry for not updating my blog as often as I should, and also for posting too many of the political youtube videos and articles.

Let me post up some slideshow of some photos I have taken thus far. Some are really overdue. Let me start with this one, a photowalk at Chow Kit street with Jayna who was back from the UK for a short break in May. We has a walk at the Chow Kit wet market and some surrounding streets. Armed only with a standard lens, 50mm f/1.4 AIS, on my trusty Nikon FM2n, with a roll of black and white film, Ilford HP Plus 400, these were the shots I had captured on that Saturday afternoon.
