Who is Liyin

Liyin is my name and  I am the CEO (CreativExtraOrdinaire) of DIP Creative Studio based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Known also as the Designer-in-Pajamas, or D.I.P. in short, which also means the three area of creative disciplines I practice – Design, Illustration and Photography. With more than a decade of experience in the creative industry I have taken beyond a role as a graphic designer to cover the work scope on illustration in recent years with an increasing demand of my expertise. Photography is something I do as a hobby and my passion lies in film photography. Restricting myself to a selective type of photography assignments that work within the constraint of my equipment I will accept them only when they are seriously required as part of the designing projects. Not wanting to specialise in wedding or event photography helps me to be more focused on where my strengths lie in – design and illustration.

I am no ordinary designer who only delivers creative ideas that will amaze you but also put a smile on your face. Not trying to brag about myself or being over-confident about my work but I have gotten positive comments and feedback from many wonderful clients I have worked with locally and internationally. Setting a higher standard for myself than what client have for me is a way I use to do better each time. I am optimistic, dedicated, meticulous and over-caring for friends (sometimes). Some describe me as funny and entertaining in person.

What I am not is I am not a workaholic. I know when I should sit back and relax. I get my inspiration not by looking at the computer screen but when I get out of my seat and go explore the outside world, even when I sleep! I travel for leisure whenever I can and when I do I like taking photos and sometimes drawing. I read too. I have embraced reading books in recent years. The books I read are mostly self-help books on leadership. It has helped me learn about myself and how I can become a better person.
